Police Department Citizen's Academy Accepting Applications

DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department is accepting applications for the 2013 Citizens Academy, a series of classes giving Dayton residents opportunities to learn about the Police Department and to work with officers to promote safety in the community.
 
The Citizens Academy is scheduled for Thursday evenings starting February 28 and will conclude in early May. Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dayton Police Academy, 3237 Guthrie Rd.
 
Topics include: peace officer roles; arrest laws; the dispatch process; special victims unit; childrens services; victim assistance; property crimes and others.

Applications will be accepted through February 14 and are available at www.daytonohiopolice.com. Applicants will be background-checked and notified of acceptance no later than February 21.
