Convicted Felon Faces Dogfighting, Weapons Charges

HARRISON TOWNSHIP -- Eric L. Wiggins, 41, is facing several charges related to dogfighting after the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office said investigators found a dead dog hanging from a window of a Salisbury Drive home.

During a search of the home, the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office said investigators found nine additional dogs, a rifle and a semi-automatic handgun. Wiggins is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess firearms. He was previously convicted of involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, aggravated robbery and carrying concealed weapons.

Wiggins is facing two counts of dogfighting, one count of possession of criminal tools, 10 counts of cruelty to companion animals and one count of having weapons while under disability (prior offense of violence). He was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Jan. 11.
