UPDATE: TROTWOOD- Families in Trotwood are grieving the loss of a beloved Trotwood Police officer, following a crash on Wednesday.
Thursday, the Montgomery County Coroner said Trotwood Officer David Yaney died from head trauma and drowning following Wednesday's crash.
The coroner found minor heart disease but said its still too early to determine if that played a factor in the crash.
Officer Yaney lost control of his pickup truck on Taywood Road in Englewood, hit a guardrail and went airborne, plunging into the creek below.
Officer Yaney worked the beat in the neighborhood of Drexel in Trotwood. Those who knew him well tell ABC 22/FOX 45 how much he will be missed.
"He knew everybody out here. He was a great cop. The best there ever was. He watched out for everybody." Kenneth Harlow said.
"He was one of a kind that is for sure. A great family man, a great friend and real good police officer." George Hock said.
The viewing for Officer Yaney Sunday January 13, from 3 to 7 p.m at Phillips Temple in Trotwood. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. -- Monday -- also at Philips Temple.
Officer Yaney will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Wolf Creek Pike in Trotwood.
TROTWOOD -- The Montgomery County Coroner's Office on Thursday released findings from its report on the death of Police Officer Dave Yaney.
Yaney was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Englewood.
The Coroner ruled the cause of death as "blunt force trauma to the head and neck, with freshwater drowning."
The Coroner's report also say that "some heart disease" was found during the autopsy but could not determine -- and might never be able to determine -- if that condition contributed to the crash.
The Coroner's office could not determine whether Yaney was conscious or not during the crash.
