Dayton -- A man accused of shooting 31-year-old Virgil Daniels behind the Super Duper market on North Main Street last month currently sits in the Montgomery County Jail after police say he lead them on a high speed chase with three children in tow Wednesday evening.

Aaron Doakes, also known as "Cheeseburger," faces felonious assault and gun charges after police found a stolen gun in the car he was driving. According to reports, officers spotted Doakes in a maroon Chrysler last night and attempted to pull him over. A chase ensued with Doakes' car reaching speeds of over 80 miles per hour through city streets. His passengers included his girlfriend and three children, ages 12, 8 and 2.

Police put down stop sticks, but Doakes was able to avoid them. He eventually bailed out of his car, ironically near the location of the Super Duper market. Officers chased him down and made the arrest.

Doakes allegedly shot Daniels - who survived - behind the Super Duper on December 20th. Daniels' girlfriend and mother of his children, said she is relieved that Doakes is behind bars.

"Obviously he doesn't care bout kids or anyone so he's definitely in the place he needs to be. I'm more at ease, knowing he is away, for the crime he committed. I'm just happy."
