DAYTON--Flights out of Dayton International Airport have already been cancelled or delayed ahead of the winter storm due to hit the Miami Valley area early Tuesday morning.

If you do have a flight scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday you should check your flight reservation at www.daytonairport.com.

Alexis Welch, a student in Atlanta, is being proactive ahead of the storm, so she doesn't get stuck in Dayton.

"I bumped up my flight to today, it was originally tomorrow at like 6:30 but they said that I should bump it up to make sure I get out and we're going to NY for New Years Eve so I wanted to make sure I got there," Welch said.

AirTran made the change for Welch free of charge. Other airlines are doing the same so people can get home after Christmas hassle free.

"Know where the weather is in the country know where you're flying to and if you're going into an area that's having weather then you want to check to make sure you're not going to experience any delays there and if you are, what are your options," said Terry Slaybaugh, Director of Aviation for Dayton Airport.

Many flight delays and cancellations coming to and from Dayton are from the states where this storm has already hit.

L.L Whirl waited more than four hours for his daughter to come in from Dallas, Texas.

"I don't know exactly what time because it was suppose to be after 7 because she was suppose to be here at 6:10 p.m." he stressed.

The delay was just as bad for those heading to Texas.
