DAYTON -- People have been preparing for the winter weather that's headed to the Miami Valley.
A winter weather advisory is in affect until 1 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities are asking people to avoid traveling the roads if you can.
Chris Wertz, owner of Natural Creations Lawn and Landscape has spent his Christmas preparing for Tuesday night's storm. He provides snow removal in the winter.
"We gas everything up, we're ready to roll," said Wertz.
Wertz says he's preparing for a long and cold night.
"If you're looking for snow service, don't wait until last minute, get on the list now," said Wertz.
He says if the weather reports end up like they're predicting, things could get rough.
This will be the first big storm for him in awhile, "it's been a year and a half since we had snow, so we have to battle with traffic, battle with drifting conditions," said Wertz.
ODOT will have its plows on the roads and so will cities across the Miami Valley.
