DAYTON--A real life grinch has stolen Christmas gifts from children with special needs.
The break-in happened Sunday night at a home in the 2000 block of Ravenwood.
Reggie McCain said he and his girlfriend were only gone an hour, when thieves broke into their home through a window and took the wrapped gifts that were under the tree.
"They tore them open. Wrapping paper was everywhere. The place was a mess. The presents were gone and our back door was open."
McCain said they were excited to celebrate Christmas with their daughter and their 2 boys, who are 5 and 9 and autistic.
"They are special kids. They are the sweetest kids. They don't comprehend what happened, but they held their sister while she cried. "
McCain said the stress of the break-in has been extremely tough on their mother.
"Since then, she has been hospitalized. She has chest pains. It has been a hard holiday. All we can do is pray."
Some of McCain's prayers were answered Monday. His mom showed up with a gift cards from an anonymous donor.
"Thank you, this will help." He said.
