VANDALIA -- The largest indoor entertainment center in the country, located right here in the Miami Valley, turns a year old this holiday weekend.
There were a lot of questions at first as to whether Scene 75 could actually be supported by the Miami Valley. But after one year, the owner says he's hit the 'fun level' right on target.
"I assumed we would have some challenges, which we have, but I felt there was a void for family entertainment," said Scene 75 CEO, Jonah Sandler.
That's why Sandler opened Scene 75 in Vandalia, and it's been a huge hit ever since.
"I think it's been better than expected in a lot of ways. The community has really stood behind us because they now have a place to go in the community," he said.
"I was like whoa, this is cool. I didn't think they'd ever have a place like this. I didn't think I'd ever go to a place like this," said Jacob Rinaer of Springboro.
"There's just so much for everyone to do regardless of age," said Kettering mother, Lisa Carlson.
From go carts to old school arcade games, Sandler believes the key to Scene 75's success, especially duing tough economic times, is all the variety combined with community support,
"When you look around and see smiles on faces, you realize we really are doing something great for the area," Sandler said.
In the past year, more than 400,000 people have walked through the doors of Scene 75. That's more than double what Sandler anticipated. He's hoping that number is going to go up even more in the coming year.
