DAYTON -- Police on Monday morning responded to a report of a gunshot victim who had walked in to the emergency room of Good Samaritan Hospital.
Harold Dillard, 21, of Centerville told police he was walking along Oakridge Avenue, near Gettysburg Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Monday when a dark-colored 1990's model car sped past at 60 to 70 mph. After the car passed, Dillard said, five or six gunshots came from the car as it continued westbound on Oakridge.
He said he walked to his uncle's car, who drove him to the hospital.
Dillard was shot in the exterior calf of his right leg and police said X-rays showed a small piece of shrapnel in his leg.
Dillard said he didn't know anyone who would want to shoot him and thought they might have just been firing without a target.
Police searched the area where Dillard described the shooting happened but found no evidence.
