DAYTON -- Officials at the hospital say a concerned citizen in Washington Township contacted them about a young man walking door-to-door claiming he was selling magazine subscriptions to help raise money for the hospital.
One hospital spokeswoman, Jena Pado, tells us Dayton Children's never goes door-to-door soliciting donations. She also stressed the importance of making sure you know you're giving to a legitimate cause. "If you're ever having a concern about what organization you might be supporting, whether it might be Dayton Children's or another community organization, you should definitely contact them and make sure the organization is legitimate," states Pado.
Hospital officials say they are very thankful that someone came forward when they suspected this suspicious charity.
Police are still trying to track down the man behind the scam.
