KING'S ISLAND -- Imagine paying $300 for a $25 pizza, or $500 for a $40 hat. Tonight King's Island is addressing several customers after a glitch in their system charged customers up to a dozen times for the same purchase.

Shelly Tool and her family celebrated Fathers Day Sunday at Kings Island Amusement Park, but there was nothing amusing about how much money they spent.

"The experience was okay until we got back home and my son checked his bank account where he purchased a hat at the water park at one of the stores and they charged him five times for the same purchase," said Tool. "My son in law was a worse situation because when they did his, his was about a $40 purchase and they did it 12 times so it bounced his account. So he's going to have all those fees, plus the bank fees, so he's going to have quite a bill there."

Tool says she liked the hat, but it wasn't worth $500.

"My son called King's Island and talked to the office and they said it was a glitch in their system and it happened to over 500 people and they would have it fixed within 24-48 hours," said Tool.

We checked King's Island's Facebook page and saw several complaints including one from Lori Wagner Huffner: "I got charged $403 for $31 in purchases. Each of my two transactions were multiplied 13 times."

"I know what we're going to do, we're never going to go over there and use a debit card again, at least until we find out that everything is good," said Tool.

Now everything is good according to King's Island's reps who released this statement regarding the incident:
"On Sunday, June 16th, there was an error in our nighttime batch processing which resulted in credit cards being charged multiple times for the same transaction.  We were notified of the situation and immediately began working with the banks to reverse these erroneous charges.  All charges have been reversed as of yesterday afternoon. For guests that may have been charged with overdraft fees, any guest who was impacted by this situation should contact the park immediately and we will work with them directly to resolve any issues or concerns they may have."

Tool says this serves as a reminder to check your statements on a regular basis.

"I do check if the statements come that I made those purchases, but if it's a month away, then it's been a month that my accounts been charged 5-12 times, so from now on it's going to be important."
