Shots Fired At H.S. Girls' Basketball Game

XENIA -- A high school girls’ basketball game turns dangerous after police say three males get in an argument and eventually one person pulls out a gun.

Xenia police aren't sure if the argument started inside the high school gym or out in the parking lot.  But they do know one thing for sure, it all ended when one of the three people involved fired several shots into the air Wednesday night.

“It's really disturbing, especially when there's kids here wrestling and playing basketball.  I don't think guns should be at school,” said Xenia mom, Christina Mack.

“I was scared that something like that happened in Xenia,” said another mom.

Xenia was playing Trotwood on Wednesday night when the shooting happened.  Police believe the three males involved are in their late teens, but they don't think they attended either school.  They were just at the game hanging out with friends.  It’s unclear why the argument started.  Police say after the shots were fired, they sped off in two separate cars before officers arrived.  Luckily no one was injured.

The school district says a “One Call” describing the incident went out to all high school parents, but some say they never got the call.

“I haven't heard anything. I didn't get a One Call,” said Trudee Wagner, mother of a Xenia freshman.

Police say they're working with school administration to make sure there are no safety issues, and the parking lots are better monitored during events.  They say there weren't any witnesses to the shots fired, so they don't have a good description of any of the suspects.  However, detectives say they are continuing to investigate.
