More than 50 people reported seeing a large fireball over Ohio about 11:05 p.m. Thursday.
Others reported it from as far away as West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and North Carolina.
According to American Meteor Society's website, witnesses from Dayton, Yellow Springs, Richmond, Ind., Englewood and Jamestown reported seeing the phenomenon.
The website quotes one witness description as saying, "Most amazing meteor we have ever seen in 40 years!"
The witness from Jamestown said, "It was quite astonishing and large. Several people are tweeting about it already."
