CUPERTINO, Calif. -- What will the next big thing be for Apple?
As the Worldwide Developers Conference Approaches, the tech world is beginning to ramp up its wish lists for what Apple will reveal.
The June conference held in San Fransisco hosts thousands of app developers who hang on Apple's every word, and with Apple stock on the decline this year, and increased competition, there is plenty of buzz about what Apple has on its drawing board.
"Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software and services that we can't wait to introduce in the fall and throughout 2014," USA Today reports Apple CEO Tim Cook saying on a conference call with analysts.
A new operating system is one rumor, while a service to compete with Pandora is another.
Wall Street would love to see lots of new products even earlier than WWDC, USA Today reports, but Needham & Co. analyst Charles Wolf says, "Apple doesn't pay attention. It does what it does and releases products when they're ready. Wall Street was clamoring for Apple to release a netbook in 2010. Instead it put out the iPad. Look what happened there."
