Bunnies Provide Therapy for Senior Citizens

DAYTON--Some cute, cuddly bunny rabbits are giving some senior citizens an early Easter present.

Award winning bunny breeder Cassie Tuttle brought a half dozen Mini-Rex bunnies to the Spring Hill Assisted Living Center to interact with the seniors and provide pet therapy.

This type of therapy is not new; dogs and cats are often used as well to help relieve stress.  But these bunnies provide extra comfort to the seniors because they're small and easy to cuddle.

"The difference is the bunnies are so tiny and so small and the bunnies really cuddly up to them and they actually pick the people they really like and want to be with," said Spring Hills Manager Angela Corwin.

These are no ordinary bunnies.  Besides being therapy animals, they've also competed and won several 4-H awards.
