DAYTON -- The Foodbank got a big boost just in time for Easter. The Ohio Pork Producers Council along with several other supporters donated 6,000 pounds of pork to the foodbank today.
The protein packed mean will help provide 5,000 meals to hungry families in the Miami Valley, just in time for Easter.
"It allows us to get much needed protein to those in need, we buy pigs from Ohio farmers, and then we take those pigs to Ohio meat processing companies, and then the pork is distributed here in Ohio, so it's Ohio farmers helping Ohioans in need.", Quinton Keeran, manager of the Ohio Pork Producers Council explained.
Ohio hog farmers have donated more than 750,000 pounds of pork to Ohio's food-banks since 2009.
