WILMINGTON -- Wilmington Police say the search for a missing Sabina mother has
officially ended-but they have not said why. Police and search crews
have spent three days looking for 32 year old Casey Pitzer.
Pitzer vanished early Sunday morning. Investigators were searching a pond off State Route 73 in Wilmington after they found a pair of boots belonging to Pitzer in the water.
On Tuesday afternoon, a sonar put out markers where Casey's body may be under the water. Officials then asked the media to move away from the pond as they prepared to send divers in.
Local 12 in Cincinnati spoke with Casey's sisters, who say the search is over and they wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns. The family was seen hugging and crying near the pond, and telling each other that Casey had been found.
Local 12 News Reporter Angenette Levy spent Monday in Wilmington talking with Pitzer's family and friends. They believe there's a body in the pond -but divers today didn't find anything. "I just want my daughter."
Greg Pitzer has spent two days searching for his daughter, Casey. "She was a beautiful, beautiful girl and she had a lot of friends and a very good mother."
The mother of two was last seen early Sunday morning. She'd been out drinking with friends. Her last stop - Uncle Louie's Lounge. "We've known her for years. So we always took care of her. Her and her friends. It's heart wrenching to all of us. it's like one of our own."
Buck Barney says Casey didn't want to leave. Casey and her friend, Tami McKay, had a disagreement in the parking lot and Casey walked away. "She's the biggest hearted person ever and everybody loved her."
McKay says her daughter's boyfriend and one of his friends saw Casey and picked her up. At some point, Casey wanted to get out of the car. "She asked to get out of the car, asked for them to stop the car. The car stopped, she got out. She took off running across all four lanes of 73 and from there she disappeared."
The men looked for Casey and called 9-1-1. As family searched the area ... police and divers focused on a retention pond next to State Route 73. "They found her boots in the water and they say the cadaver dogs are hitting on the water but the sonar's not finding anything."
Friends and family of Casey gathered near the pond - waiting for answers. "It's just terrible. My daughter's out there and we need her home. We need closure."
The retention pond is 40 feet deep. Police say they have no reason to doubt the story of the two men Casey was with yesterday morning. They say the men are cooperating.
