DAYTON -- A police report is shedding more details on the shooting overnight on Bancroft Street, near Danner Avenue.
Dayton police say the gunshot victim, Shawn Phillips, was sitting in his SUV at the Bancroft Apartments and texting her girlfriend. When he got out othe vehicle, a newer model black Chrevrolet Impala drove up beside him and a man jumped out and pointed what appeared to be a shotgun at him.
According to Phillips, the man said, "Take off your pants or I'll blow your (expletive) face off," as he pointed the gun at his head.
Phillips told police the suspect lowered the weapon and one point and he reached for it. The two men struggled for a moment, police said, before Phillips fled toward Danner Avenue.
According to Phillips, the suspect fired once, which hit him in the right buttock. He said the man approached him, pulled off his pants and fled in the Impala.
Phillips said he would be unable to identify the suspect or the driver, who never got out of the car.
The suspect with the gun is described as a light-skinned black male, about 6-foot to 6-foot-6.
Police are continuing to investigate.

DAYTON -- A man is recovering after taking a shotgun blast to the upper thigh.
It happened early Monday morning on Bancroft Street in Dayton. The victim tells police he was just walking down Bancroft when a black Impala pulled up.
He says the passenger jumped out with a shotgun and opened fire on him. The shooter then jumped back into the Impala and the driver sped off.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. He says he did not get a good look at the shooter or the driver of the Impala.
