MIAMI VALLEY -- A winter storm watch is in effect starting Tuesday afternoon for Clark, Miami, Darke, Shelby, Champaign, Logan, Auglaize, and Mercer Counties.

The main hazard is going to be some heavy accumulating snow. Areas in the Watch (which will be upgraded to a warning in the next 12 to 24 hours) could expect up to 4-6" of snow. The more north and west you go of I-70 the more snow accumulation is probable.

South of I-70 is not under a Winter Storm Watch and will likely see a Winter Weather Advisory. These areas have a better chance to see a mix of everything over the next couple of days (Rain, Freezing Rain, Sleet, Snow) which reduces the overall snow totals, but still will not be ideal for travel.

NOTE: If the track of this storm lifts more to the north we will see the heavy bands of snow slide out of our area. Your First Warning Weather Team will keep you updated as this system gets closer to home.

LIGHT AT THE END OF TUNNEL: The next 24-72 hours after this snow storm rolls through we're expecting a significant warm-up. During this time we will see highs glide into the lower 40's and there should be some sunshine to go along with it.
