FAIRBORN -- School and police have identified a student who they say is responsible for the recent threatening messages at Baker Middle School.
Fairborn City Schools Superintendent Dave Scarberry said the student, whose identity was not released, will face disciplinary action from the school and possible criminal charges.
Scarberry said police visited the home of the student and the middle school was searched on Tuesday. Nothing was found at either location related to the threat.
Scarberry said he encourages parents to speak with their children about writing messages on school property and that this type of vandalism will be taken seriously and prompt action taken. He said there are new safety procedures in place, including having staff members in hallways during class changes and students are now required to keep backpacks and coats in lockers once the school day begins.
Also, Scarberry said, each class will have a sign in/sign out sheet for students and all students must have a pass if they are out of class for any reason.
"These measures are in place to insure the safety of all students and staff," Scarberry said.
Scarberry said the best way for parents to get information from the district is to sign up for âÂÂE-Communicationâ on the Fairborn City Schools website under âQuickLinks.â
