UPDATE -- Officers found 67-year old Ellen Derrik shot in the head Monday, Jan.6, 2015, at her home on Earlham Drive.
Her injuries were said to be so critical that homicide detectives had to be called out to investigate.
Her husband was apparently injured as well, but police told us he was at another location. Authorities indicated there is a history of domestic violence between the couple, so a group of specialized detectives were also called to the scene.
"We'll bring in our domestic violence investigators because they have resources, access to information and expertise that can assist in the investigation," said Dayton Police Lt. Wendy Stiver.
Police said the woman's husband had already been convicted of domestic violence that involved his wife but so far there were no arrests made in this case.
