MIDDLETOWN -- Officers in Middletown tried to stop a car this week, because the driver had outstanding traffic tickets. But that driver, Roderick Robinson, wanted nothing to do with police and took off. Police gave chase and after a few minutes, Robinson decided to bail out, leaving some precious cargo behind.
As police were watching cruiser cam video of the pursuit later, they saw that two children also got out of the car and ran. Robinson's 9 year old daughter grabbed the hand of her 4 year old sister and took off toward their grandfather's home, which was nearby.
The suspect mother says, he's not a bad guy, but he did make a very bad decision, "They could've had a car wreck, or anything. Other people's lives was in danger too by him running you know. And I thank God that they all safe."
Robinson is now charged with eluding police, child endangering, and driving with an open container.
