SPRINGFIELD -- People living in a Springfield neighborhood tell us they're terrified after four people were shot at the Nite Owl Tavern.
Springfield Police say Ernest Edward, 34, was shot and killed inside the bar, three other men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened late Saturday night after police say there was a fight inside the bar. They aren't sure what the fight was about.
Police say they do not have a suspect.
Neighbors near the bar say they live in fear by the Nite Owl.
We promised our interviews we would keep their identities hidden.
They say this shooting doesn't surprise them because nothing is being done to curb the crime.
"It goes on every weekend. They're called out here but they don't do nothing about it. They just ride by," said one neighbor.
Every neighbor we talked to say they won't go out of their house at night and say there's only one way to stop these crimes.
"Id like to see that bar closed. Just like everybody else would like to see that bar closed."
Police say they don't have any more crime at the Nite Owl than any other bar in town and that every bar is subject to crime.
A woman walking inside the side door to the bar said the owner was unavailable.
Those who know Ernest say he went by Ernie or E and that he was a quiet soul who cared about everyone.
They want help finding justice for whoever did this to the man they love. Edward is a father, husband, a brother and loved his mother dearly.
