Snow and Ice Poses Dangerous Conditions in Miami Valley

DAYTON -- Black ice is causing multiple slide offs in the Miami Valley so drivers heading out Friday night should be extra careful.

Some salt and plow trucks haven't made it to certain side roads and its causing dangerous conditions for drivers.

"Last year was perfect, this year it's cold," said Alicia Ingram, from Northridge.

We've seen white outs, icy roads and inches upon inches of snow this winter and some folks are tired of it.

However,  not Todd George of Ohio Green Works. He says his business thrives in these conditions.

"This is great for business. We'll take one of these very week we can get one," said George.

His team spent the evening plowing and salting parking lots.

"We have different trucks, three different routes, a bunch of guys that will help do sidewalks, it's a decent amount of coordinating.

George's team planned for this snow to keep your commute a safe one.

For people like Alicia Ingram and her daughter Rachel, who traveled to the dentist office Friday evening and had to take it extra slow because of the snow.

"Just slow your speed down and pay attention to who's ahead of you, what's around you and what's coming behind you," said Ingram.

The temperatures could also linger in the teens Friday which poses a re-freezing problem, for those roads, bridges and of course overpasses.

"Conditions were pretty bad this morning, the roads were pretty bad, but we threw down a lot of salt and the roads are pretty good now and we're just cleaning up everything," George explained.

If you get into an accident or experience a slide off, call AAA Dayton or 911.
