DAYTON -- A Dayton City Commissioner is moving closer to running for mayor of Dayton.
Nan Whaley filed her petition with the Montgomery County Board of Elections today. On Thursday night, Whaley was endorsed by Montgomery County's Democrat Party.
Whaley says she has a clear vision for the Gem City, "I think the key for Dayton is to make sure we create quality jobs, and really invest in our technology, and make sure that we make those products here in manufacturing and then also investing in small businesses."
Whaley turned in nearly 1500 petition signatures today, that's about three times the amount required. The deadline for throwing your hat into the ring for mayor is March 8th.
