DAYTON -- University of Dayton Police is investigating an alleged rape that happened to one female student after she attended a party on campus.
UD Police say last Saturday a female attended a party at a house on Lawnview Avenue. Police say while at the party she was offered a drink from someone she didn't know, then blacked out.
Police say she woke up the next morning in her Marianist Hall dorm room with evidence she had been rape. The incident has UD female students concerned.
"It made me feel uncomfortable, there seems to have been an increase this year of just violence on campus in general so it just sort of made us bring up our guards again," said Rachel Pugliese, a UD Senior.
Friends told the female student she left the party with guy they didn't know named Mike or Mark, his description vague, a tall white male with brown hair and white shirt.
UD Police say when walking home from a party, never leave with someone you don't know or walk alone. If you are concerned use their emergency escort service.
"I try to stick to lit pathways, not take alleyways that are in between the houses and luckily we have those emergency boxes around the school so if we did need to use them we have the school dto be there for us," said Pugliese.
Police also stress no matter who you are don't take drinks from strangers - and always drink responsibly.
"If you are drinking, I would advise to not take open containers, especially from those who you don't know. Likewise I would say to be cautious of who you are with and if you feel unsafe let someone know and always stick with your friends," said Renee Alati, a UD student.
