HARRISON TOWNSHIP -- Firefighters responded to a fire at Mercy Siena Retirement Community Center on Monday morning.
It happened around 3 a.m. on North Main Street. The blaze started in the attic and was put out by the sprinkler system. The smoke alarms did not go off but the sprinklers did their job. Damages are estimated at around $500,000.
All of the residents of the Retirement Home have been evacuated to a facility next door. Mutual aid from several fire departments was called in to fight the fire.
No one was injured and the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
