DAYTON -- Service to all mankind but especially our veterans.
That was the mission of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sisters Sunday during their annual "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service."
Music filled the church at the Veteran Affairs Hospital as people gathered for a day of service and honored veterans in the Miami Valley.
Organizers say the event is to remind people how Martin Luther King Jr. served so many.
"We may have differences in philosophies and definitely living situations, but Martin Luther King ... Dr. Martin Luther King was concerned about all of us," said Dora Carson from the Beta Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Veterans serving in all of our nation's wars were honored today, but there was a special tribute to the Miami Valley's Tuskegee Airmen.
The prestigious group is made up of African-American pilots who bravely served in World War II.
