DAYTON-- The Dayton Police Department is now taking applications
for it's Citizen's Academy.
It will be the first time in 7 years, the Dayton Police Department is organizing an academy for Montgomery County Residents.
During a 3 month course, residents will learn the ins and outs of every department and learn how to help police and fight crime in your own neighborhood.
Residents will also go on ride along's with police officers.
"The goal of the Citizen's Academy is to build good advocates in our community." Community Engagement Officer Chris Pawelski said.
"We can' t do our jobs well without having those partnerships with the citizens." He said.
Classes are Thursday nights and begin February 28 and go through May.
