PREBLE COUNTY -- A 39-year-old Eaton man is behind bars after a police pursuit that ended in a field about noon Jan. 13.

Preble County Sheriff's deputies learned that Willie Asher, 39, was near the 7400 block of Eaton Oxford Road. They attempted to stop a black Ford pick-up truck they believed to be driven by Asher. Instead of stopping, deputies said, Asher fled southbound on Isreal Somers Road, crossing State Route 725 and continued south on Reeves Road. Asher reportedly drove the vehicle in to a field at Reeves Road and Camden College Corner Road. The vehicle became disabled and deputies apprehended Asher after he tried to flee on foot.

Asher was wanted on two outstanding warrants for charges of menacing by Stalking and Violating A Protection Order, and Kidnapping, Abduction, Aggravated Menacing, Rape, Domestic Violence, Menacing By Stalking and Violating A Protection Order.

Deputies also say they found pills on Asher, which they suspect were hydrocodone.

In addition to the warrants, Asher will be charged with Driving Under OVI Suspension, Drug Possession, Fleeing and Eluding and Failure To Obey a Traffic Control Device.

He was taken to the Preble County Jail.
