GOSHEN, Ind. -- Refusing to get a flu shot cost six people their jobs.
Indiana's Goshen Hospital made it mandatory for all employees to get the shot but some said "no way!" because of allergies and biblical beliefs.
Twenty-six workers filed appeals so they could be exempt but six of them were fired.
"I just feel like it's a toxin that I don't want in my body," said Sue Schrock, a nurse who was fired. "There are side effects with that. There are no guarantees that it's even going to protect you."
A hospital spokesperson said their priority is to protect the patients and their appeals were denied because their beliefs didn't meet Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines.
