A retired Dayton police officer arrested for robbing a bank has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

DAYTON--David Hirst was arrested last month for holding up the US Bank in downtown Cambridge.

Police say Hirst was armed with two guns when he handed the teller a note and demanded money.

Hirst served as a Dayton detective for 25 years.  He could face more than 10 years in prison if convicted on all charges. He remains locked up in the Guensey County jail.
