CLAYTON -- Ohio Department of Transportation road crews were already hard at work Friday morning making roads safer for tonight's expected snowfall.
ODOT Transportation Administrator Bob Lenser said they used 300 to 400 tons of salt earlier this week during the first winter storm and they are now pre-treating the highways with brine, a salt-and-water solution, that will melt snow as it falls tonight.
The Miami Valley is expected to get from 1 to 4 inches of snow, beginning about 7 p.m., with most of the accumulation coming overnight.
Lenser said his crew will be assigned to Montgomery County highways, including I-675, I-75 and I-70. He doesn't expect to need as much salt as they used earlier this week.
His crews used more salt for Wednesday's storm than they did for all of last year's weather, which wasn't much.
We'll will bring you the latest conditions and forecasts tonight at 6 and 11 on ABC 22 and 6:30 and 10 on FOX 45.
