NEW LEBANON--The urge to help the survivors of Sandy Hook Elementary has spread from Newtown to New Lebanon. Two young girls have started a stuffed animal drive.
The Cuddles for Newtown project set up donation sites at a number of businesses in New Lebanon. The girls are already seeing quite a response from the community.
"We've already had almost 30 stuffed animals donated, about 40 dollars in shipping, so we're really excited to feel like we're doing something," said business owner Sarah Thompson.
If you would like to donate a new stuffed animal there are drop boxes set up in the town's Subway, Rainbotique, and the Last Drop Cafe.
Want to join in helping the survivors? Here are three verified ways to donate. The "My Sandy Hook Family Fund" is helping to pay for funerals and living expenses. The "Newtown Memorial Fund" will set up a foundation fund. The "Sandy Hook Support Fund is providing support services to victims' families and the community.
