Fighting Back: Snapping Pictures of Drug Dealers

DAYTON -- A west side Dayton neighborhood is fighting back against drug dealers on their streets.

More than 800 people live in the Northern Hills neighborhood off Gettysburg and Hillcrest.

The neighborhood association has started taking pictures of deals made on their streets. They take pictures of the people, license plates and houses for police.

"It's so quick. It's gone just like that," said John Draper.

Draper has lived in the same home for three decades in Dayton. He says the times have changed.

People who live on Carnegie, Archwood, Breezewood and Owens streets have made the most complaints, according the Derrick Foward, the neighborhood association president.

"This hits home for me to have to deal with this on a day-in and day-out basis," said Foward.

Foward says they have put out signs on the streets warning dealers that they're under surveillance.

"They still come down and park their car in front of the signs and make their drug transactions," he said.

The neighborhood plans to set up surveillance on the streets as well.
