Former Rec Center Sold; Will Become Head Start

DAYTON -- The former Stuart Patterson Recreation Center at 238 Baltimore St. in Old North Dayton is being sold and will now become a Head Start center, following an announcement by the City of Dayton on Friday.

IMTA Consulting Group LLC has agreed to buy the building and property for $90,000.

Renovations of the property have already begun.

The adjacent park will continue to be owned and operated by the city. The city also is expected to demolish the swimming pool at the park, which is unusable.

The Recreation Center building had been on the city's surplus properties list for two years. According to the purchase agreement with IMTA, the purchase will be paid with a $10,000 down payment followed by four $20,000 annual payments.
