Keeping Your Pet Calm During Fireworks

UNDATED -- If we do get to launch fireworks tonight, the downside is they make spook your pets, perhaps even causing them to run away from home.

The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center told us loud Fourth of July noises frighten animals.  Between 20 and 30 people come in daily looking for their pets this time of year.

Mark Kumpf with the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center says, "they'll try to escape that sound any way they can, sometimes even jumping through a window and injuring themselves, not realizing that they're running towards the source of that noise, not away from it."

If you know your dog is easily frightened, try turning on your TV to provide a distraction for them.  You can also talk to a vet about medications.
