UNDATED -- Fireworks are beautiful to watch, but if you aren't careful, they can be very painful.
Emergency room doctors at Kettering Medical Center say they usually see five to ten firework-related injuries during the week of July 4th, including burns, amputations and eye injuries.
Officials say children are most at risk. Dr. Stephen Enseleit advises "being careful around little ones, especially even with sparklers... the most common injury to kids under the age of five is from sparklers."
But the best advice doctors are giving is to use common sense.
Novelty fireworks like sparklers and poppers are permitted in Ohio, but bottle rockets, firecrackers and Roman candles are illegal.
