EARLIER COVERAGE:

DAYTON -- She was just an innocent bystander, and she was nine months pregnant, so the crowd attending Da'Lyne Foster's funeral wants to know why she had to die.

More than 1,000 people came out to pay their respects to the mother of four at The Potter's House Church in Dayton. The ceremony was a celebration of DaLyne's life and a call of action for the entire community to stop the gun violence.

Da'Lyne, 27 was known to her family as their "watchdog," always willing to help someone in need.

"She would give her last to anybody, including me. I was her little sister so she just, she would do anything for me and my kids," said Danielle Foster, Da'Lyne's baby sister.

Da'Lyne was 9 months pregnant, walking around Desoto Bass, when gunfire broke out and a bullet hit Da'Lyne's chest. Her son, Christopher survived the shooting and is still recovering in the hospital.

"We had to watch our cousin just get brought out this church in a casket, you would never want that to go for anyone in your family," said Haneisha Wortham, a cousin of Da'Lyne.

The turnout today for Da'Lyne's funeral proved that she was loved.

"It just amazed me at how much she was loved because all the people who was in there, and I didn't know that many people loved her, my niece was a loving girl, she opened her house up to anybody," said Josephus Foster, Da'Lyne's uncle.

She was an active member of the Potter House Church, days before her death, Da'Lyne rededicated her life to Christ.

"From being an obedient child at times, I didn't think she was hearing me but this is a prime example behind me when your children listen and they obey, I just wanted to give her back to Christ and she took hold," said David Foster, her father.

Police are still investigating who shot and killed Da'Lyne. Her family is still looking for peace.

"So nobody's every going to get away, whether I'm here to see it or not, I know justice will be served," her father said.

Da'Lyne's case is an active investigation for the Dayton Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call 937-333-COPS.
