SANDUSKY -- It's a fish tale for the record books.
Patrick Johnson of Toledo caught on June 9 the largest carp ever recorded by the Outdoor Writers of Ohio State Record Fish Committee. He used a bow and arrow with a fish point tethered with 200 lb. test Fast Flight line.
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Johnson pulled in the carp, which measured 45 inches long and 32 1/2 inches in girth. It weighed 53.65 pounds. The previous record holder was 47.65 pounds and 38 inches long in 2008. In Ohio, records are determined only by weight.
