XENIA -- Students and staff of Cox Elementary School in Xenia got a sneak peak of their new school building Sunday afternoon.
Xenia Superintendent Deborah Piotrowski says the upgrade was overdue. The old school building had plumbing issues, the heating system was outdated and the roof was damaged.
Some of the benefits of the new building includes technology updates and a new security system.
"Often times in our old schools some of the doors were not able to be locked or secured. Here we have a security system where we can maintain who's entering and who's leaving the building," Piotrowski said.
The official opening of the school is January 8.
