CLARK COUNTY -- Domestic violence charges against a Springfield Police lieutenant have been dropped.

The Prosecutor's office dropped the charges against Noel Lopez, saying a staff shortage led to the decision. They were dropped without prejudice, which means the charges could be filed again, at the prosecutor's discretion.

Lopez was accused of domestic violence after a March 15 arrest. Police at the time said Lopez kicked his wife and squeezed her wrist so hard it caused bruising. Lopez's wife reportedly claimed in March that her husband had been abusive for a month.
