PIQUA -- Three out-of-state women are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say they seized two pounds of marijuana, more than nine grams of heroin, 143 prescription pills, 993 Ecstasy pills and 320 milliliters of liquid codeine following a traffic stop in Miami County.

The drugs have a street value of more than $29,600.

Troopers reportedly stopped at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday a 2006 Dodge Magnum, with Kentucky registration, for a following too closely violation on Interstate 75, near Piqua. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers say they detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a cardboard box containing the contraband in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.

The driver, Wilhemina C. Simpson, 32, of Louisville, Ky., and passengers, Ashley T. May, 29, of Highland Park, Mich., and Antionette C. Simpson, 35, of Louisville, Ky., were incarcerated in the Miami County Jail and charged with possession of Ecstasy, a first-degree felony; possession of heroin, a third-degree felony; possession of Hydrocodone and Codeine; both fourth-degree felonies; and possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.

If convicted, each woman could face up to 19 years in prison and up to a $42,500 fine.
