Largest Pill Bust in Montgomery County History

VANDALIA-- Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers  made  the largest seizure of prescription pills in Montgomery County history,  during a traffic stop in Vandalia.

14 pounds  of prescription pills  with a street value  $340,000 were seized late Thursday night.

"Oxycontin, hydrocodone, xanax, suboxone was found in the vehicle ."  Ohio State Highway Patrol  Lt. Jon Payer  said.

Late Thursday  night,  the Ohio State Highway Patrol  got a  call  that  a  black  SUV was swerving  badly on I-75 south.

Troopers pulled William Hedges over near the  Northwoods Boulevard  exit and  found all the  pills in his car.

Lt. Payer  said Hedges was high on drugs himself .

"He was so impaired,  we weren't able  to interview him last night."  Lt. Payer said.

Lt. Payer said the pills were in individual baggies, ready for sale.

Hedges is from Michigan,  and said he  was headed to Tennessee.

Troopers  said  I- 75  is  major thoroughfare for drug dealers, especially those from michigan

"We deal  with it  specifically in this area because I -75 goes from Michigan all the way down to Florida." Lt. Payer said.

Thanks to last nights tip, Lt. Payer said  it led to the largest pill seizure in this area.

"We were  able to take  an impaired driver we got off the roadway, and we stopped how many other countless crimes  involving  prescription medications in the future."

The Ohio Patrol urges motorists to dial #677 if they see an impaired driver, or anything suspicious on the interstates.

Hedges is locked up in the Montgomery County Jail, facing OVI and drug charges.
