CLAYTON -- The Montgomery County Coroner's office has identified a Clayton woman killed in an early morning fire on Sunday.

We're told Linda Brown, 62, was killed after the room she was in caught on fire.

The fire happened around 4:00 a.m. at 4290 Crownwood Avenue.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Garver says the woman was bed ridden so she wasn't able to escape the fire.

Neighbors tell us Brown spent her life with children. She was an educator in the Northmont School District and lived inside the home for at least two decades.

Garver says the first floor was fully involved when they arrived.

Neighbors say Brown became sick a few years ago and hasn't been able to move since. She had a caretaker daily and her son came every weekend to be with her.

He was inside sleeping too.

"Smoke detectors alerted him, he got out, but couldn't get into the room," said Garver.

The state fire marshals office assisted in the investigation.

It is unclear what started the fire.
