DAYTON -- Police arrested two teenagers accused of sexually assaulting three children at a city park.
Detectives said the victims, ages 6 and 8, were playing at the park on Cleveland Avenue.
The kids were without their parents when the suspects, ages 13 and 14, approached them with BB guns.
"The suspects brandished BB guns and shot the children several times," Dayton Police Sgt. Larry Tolpin said.
Sgt. Tolpin said the teens then forced the children into a wooded area where they sexually assaulted them.
"This makes me very angry. It's sickening and sad," said Donnie Thomas, a father of two.
Thomas brings his daughters to the playground on Cleveland Avenue all the time.
"Being a parent of two, it's upsetting," he said of the assault.
The victims told their parents and they called police. Tuesday night, Dayton Police saturated the park with undercover and uniformed officers and were able to track down the the teen suspects at a home near the park.
"I don't know what kind of parenting or upbringing they had, but I'm glad they caught them," Thomas said.
After interviewing the teens, detectives say what started out as a bullying situation escalated to a much more serious crime.
The assault has parents here keeping a closer eye on their kids.
"You just have to look after your kids even more," Brad Boehmer said. You can't trust anyone anymore."
The teen suspects are being held in the Montgomery County Juvenile Justice Center. Police said the teens are facing rape charges, but could also be facing kidnapping, aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges.

The victims are three boys, one is 8 years old, the others are 6.
Police say the suspects, described as 13- and 14-year-olds, shot the younger kids with BB guns, forced them into a wooded area and sexually assaulted them.
The alleged victims reportedly provided detailed descriptions of the suspects and police spend Tuesday in the park investigating. Following the investigation, police say they arrested the three suspects at a nearby house.
The boys are being held at the Juvenile Justice Center on sexual assault charges. They also could face kidnapping, aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges.
