KETTERING -- Lincoln Park was the place to be Wednesday night with plenty of food, fun and even a lesson in fire safety. A trailer was literally set on fire as part of a demonstration by the fire department at the annual block party. Families learned how to safely escape a mock house fire. They quickly got out, so they could enjoy all the free food.
"I think it's kind of neat. Especially the hotdogs and ice cream. I tell it like it is. The ice cream was great," said Bill Adkins of Kettering.
There was also free bicycle helmet fittings, and face painting for the the kids. The city of Kettering says this is the kick off to encouraging everyone to have a safe summer.
