ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Caleb "Kai" McGillivary, the so-called "hatchet-wielding hitchhiker," gained instant fame after stopping a deadly attack in California.
But, this morning he was the one arraigned on first-degree murder charges.
Prosecutors say the 24-year-old murdered a prominent New Jersey attorney.
The case will now go before a grand jury.
Currently, Kai is behind bars on $3 million bail.
