KIRTLAND, OH -- A town in northeast Ohio is on high alert after an unusual visitor is seen running around: a black bear.
The bear was spotted near a high school in Kirtland, about 22 miles east of Cleveland.
In fear, some people chose to stay in all weekend.
One Kirtland resident, Alan Clough, says "I'm afraid that somebody, some young child is going to see the bear and run to it and try to be nice to it."
Wildlife officials are telling folks not to approach the animal and to keep any trash and food away from their homes.
Another Kirtland resident, Mark Roulan, believes, "As long as I don't leave food outside my house, I don't think I'm going to have to worry about it."
Last year, the state confirmed 60 different bears in Ohio, with a majority in the northeast part of the state.
