Police Release Identity of Potential Homicide Victim

XENIA -- Woman found dead inside her Xenia home and police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Lynn Hamblin, 59, lived by herself at a home on East Church St. Police found her body Friday afternoon. Neighbors called them because they hadn't seen Hamblin for a few days.

"It's kind of suspicious. There's a lot of stuff going on a lot of activity. For the most part, it's quiet around here and everyone looks out for each other. When I saw all that, I was kind of surprised," said neighbor, Joseph Ramilla.

"There are very unusual and suspicious circumstances and we're investigating this as a homicide at this time," said Xenia Police Capt. Scott Anger.

Police wouldn't elaborate on what makes the death suspicious. Right now it's unclear when or how she died. Those who knew her say Hamblin was a good neighbor.

"She would come out and garden and walk her dogs. That's pretty much it," Ramilla said,

Before police even went inside the home, Animal Control had to remove four dogs from the home, two were dead. Three cats were also inside as well as six chickens.

Police say Hamblin's car was nowhere to be found when they arrived. Officers spotted it, unoccupied, a short time later. Although they won't say where it was parked, or whether they have any suspects in this homicide investigation.

"You can't be too careful nowadays you think you're in a safe neighborhood where everyone looks out for everyone. You just have to keep your guard up at all times," Ramilla said.

If you have any information about this potential homicide, call Xenia police at 372-9901.
